5 Small Joys That Make September Feel Special

September in the Hamptons (and beyond) always feels like a gentle shift, summer lingers in the air, but there’s a subtle promise of cozy days ahead. It’s the perfect month to slow down, savor the in-between, and find joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Here are five little things making this season feel extra special:

Sunset Walks & Firepit Nights

The skies in September have a glow all their own softer, pinker, and somehow more romantic. A quick evening walk, or a cozy seat around the firepit tea in hand feels like the sweetest reset. We have two firepits, a traditional one that Rob built during COVID & a gas one. They both have their pros and cons, the traditional one gives off that traditional Halloween smell with the sounds of crackling wood, the only kicker is that the smoke can be very strong and linger in your clothes and hair. The gas is easy on and off and simple.

We have this one from Wayfair and I love it. :)

Fresh Starts

Back-to-school energy isn’t just for students. September always feels like a mini–New Year. It’s the perfect time to organize, refresh your goals, or simply pick up a new journal and dream a little. I love planners, new notebooks and stationery. It brightens up your desk, gives you excitement. I bought a refillable Louis Vuitton planner years ago and it was truly a wonderful investment piece. I buy the A5 refills every year and there's something about putting pencil to paper. Technology is great for keeping us organized but traditional is sometimes best. (at least for me).  Some of my favorite office essentials are here.

Cozy Layers

Warm afternoons paired with crisp evenings call for light sweaters, denim jackets, and chic throw-on pieces. It’s that magical moment when you can pair bare legs with a chunky knit. I also love my sweatshirts over a cutie tennis/golf dress.

These are some of my favorite sweatshirts

Seasonal Treats

From apple cider donuts to a glass of rosé enjoyed fireside, September flavors are unmatched. A little indulgence feels extra comforting this time of year.

Slowing Down

After an event packed summer, there’s beauty in quiet weekends, long brunches, and time to breathe. It’s the month that reminds us it’s okay to do less and savor more.

September is all about finding joy in the small things. Whether it’s a pink sky, a cozy knit, or a moment of stillness, let yourself lean into the sweetness of the season.
